07.08.2025 | ResponsibilityOn a good pathOur climate strategy
Four publishers in our group have now received badges from right. based on science for the first time. This means that the recognised climate tech company has confirmed that we have developed a climate strategy for these publishers that does not excessively contribute to global warming, but instead sets out a path to limit it to 1.5/1.7 °C. The badge reflects the target temperature that we can realistically achieve with our planned measures. It is a clear signal that we, as a company, are taking the issue of climate strategy seriously.
To determine this figure, we used the XDC model, a scientifically recognised model for assessing a company's climate impact. As part of our first company-wide sustainability project, vemag_sustain, we measured and documented the CO2e emissions generated in Scope 1, 2 and Scope 3 (purchased goods and logistics), which is particularly important for us. right. based on science then balanced these actual values and our current reduction path and converted them into a degree using science-based methods. The ‘Paris-aligned strategy’ seal is formulated with reference to the Paris Climate Agreement. This agreement aims to limit global warming to 1.5 °C by 2100, but at least well below 2 °C. The result illustrates how the climate would change if all companies in the world operated like us. Our seals confirm that our strategy is in line with this agreement.
In future, we plan to measure our corporate carbon footprint (CCF) annually as a group of companies, including those companies that were not included in the first assessment. In addition, we will continue to analyse the paper market on an ongoing basis in order to use raw materials with the lowest possible emissions in our products. The central question here is: ‘Can we find further levers for reducing emissions?’, which we are working on across the entire company.
Our first sustainability report, which we will publish here shortly, provides a deeper insight into our sustainability activities.
