New board member

Carla Scheunemann (48), most recently Managing Director of the influencer publishing house Community Editions, will join the existing Management Board of VEMAG Verlags- und Medien AG in Cologne from 1 June. Together with Sascha Heinen (48) and Dr Holger Schneider (60), she will manage the publishing group's business and, as Chief Publishing Officer, will be responsible for the Programme division in particular.

„Back home“

VEMAG is not new territory for Carla: she worked for the group in various roles from 2005 to 2021 and is therefore very familiar with the special features of VEMAG's business. She initially worked in the international editorial department, then spent many years in international sales, where she played a key role in setting up and successfully developing the business. This was followed by several years in business development, which culminated in her supporting and ultimately managing Community Editions since its foundation. When VEMAG sold its shares in Community Editions to co-shareholder Bastei Lübbe AG in July 2021, she remained on board at CE and was responsible for the company's growing success as Managing Director. She is now returning to VEMAG as a member of the Management Board.

Her colleagues on the Management Board emphasise the opportunities for the publishing group: "We are delighted that we have been able to recruit Carla, one of the most sought-after programme women in the German publishing landscape. Her experience with a young team in a complex programme segment with complicated author structures, her extensive networking in the industry and her contemporary creativity will certainly be of great value on our path to an even more successful future."
