Kölner Verlags- und Medien Aktiengesellschaft (VEMAG) has founded an incubator for new business ideas in 2024. Under the name VEMAG Ventures, innovative start-up approaches are developed around the medium of books - in line with the Group's mission “The future is books”. The first three ventures have already been launched, with the fourth to follow in spring 2025.

Max von Schultzendorff, Operational Lead of VEMAG Ventures, explains the incubator as follows: “VEMAG Ventures combines innovative start-up approaches with the classic medium of books and creates unique print innovations with a modern twist. We combine the resources and experience of a media group with the wealth of ideas, innovative strength and agility of young start-up teams. This is how we achieve systematic success and create rapid, sustainable growth in the traditional book industry.”

The six-strong team works remotely, both from the company’s location in Cologne and from the Berlin coworking space Mindspace.
